September grew up in Council Bluffs and attended Iowa Western Community College and The University of Iowa. Her start in radio began at KOAK in Red Oak, Iowa. After begging for a job and coming in during her free time to learn, she was ready when a position became available. She worked there for ten years, followed by WOW for five years. Meanwhile, September owned her own disc jockey business, "Music on Wheels," for twenty years, performing at dances, weddings, parties, and anniversaries.
She says the day she accepted Christ as her Savior, her life changed. September had no idea there was even Christian radio until she saw a window-cling for KGBI. She started listening...and the rest is history!
September’s favorite part of her job is meeting listeners, getting to know them, hearing stories from their lives – sharing the good and bad – and seeing how God is working.
She is also a Paramedic Specialist, firefighter who volunteers and teaches classes at local community colleges and Iowa State University. September was married to Lewis August 1, 2009 at Lewis and Clark monument overlooking the metro, it was a beautiful day 84 degrees. Together Lewis and September have 9 children, Tim, Abby, Austin, Autumn, Cat, Rachel, Summer, Whitney, and Winter. As well as 3 grandchildren: Aaron, Brandon, and Lane.
She enjoys spending time with her husband, scrap booking, bead work, gardening, sewing, reading books, and did she mention spending time with her husband?
September enjoys music from her friend John Waller, he is a very annointed musician who loves and listens to the Lord. Go Fish, Darlene Zschech, and Rebecca St. James are just some of her favorite artists. She doesn't watch TV but occasionally will watch a movie; Field of Dreams, Left Behind, and of course don't want to forget John Wayne.
September says, "The Lord is really all we have in this world, I truly rely on HIM for everything and HE comes through every time. It may not be in my timing, but he does provide for all our needs."
